Espro Ultralight Allows For Coffee Perfection On The Go
The Espro Ultralight is a 16 oz. double wall insulated press perfect for my on-the-go life style. My day job is very sporadic and takes me all over town. Having my French Press coffee within reach at all times will be a welcoming addition. My extracurricular and athletic passions take me all over our awesome state (Colorado) to find action, adventure, and solitude. Biking, hiking, running, camping all require a proper amount of coffee caffeine-ation. Hence, bringing this bad boy with me will truly be a pleasure.
The Espro Ultralight is also great for Tea and refreshing cold hydration purposes. I like Tea, but haven’t taken it to the point of buying the best loose leaf product. Hence, I won’t focus on that element for this review. The same goes for hydration. There are plenty of water bottles out there, and this special Espro Ultralight will be reserved especially for my coffee addiction. I know it can serves as a perfect multi-tool liquid attack, but I love it for the Coffee addict in me.
This is my French Press Arsenal on the Home Front. I have a couple of others for Camping. The Espro Ultralight will be a very nice addition allowing me to take my coffee to go.
Let’s grind through some of the Details of the Espro Ultralight French Press
This can surely be debated, but the French Press is considered by many coffee snobs to be one of the better ways to drink your cup O’ Joe. I know the drip machine seems to be a crowd favorite because it seems so easy. I personally can’t stand it. The French press takes no time at all in my opinion, and delivers a far superior cup of coffee.
A quick grind (remember to set the Burr Grinder setting to coarse), heat up some water, and pour over the grinds. That’s it. Done!
Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. There’s a lot of chemistry involved with creating the perfect coffee, and for the French Press you want the temperature to be around the 195 to 200 degree mark. Now, I don’t pull out the old thermometer. I simply pull the kettle off right before it boils. If I can’t get there in time, I’ll let it sit for about 30 seconds to let the temperature cool off a bit. Once poured, you do want to give the molecular coffee and water elements a chance to interact properly, so give it 3-5 minutes. It allows the coffee grounds to settle which will make it much easier to push the plunger down.
Be patient, and let the coffee and water do a perfect little dance. Then, you can push that plunger down for a perfect pick me up shot of caffeine.
In my stable of presses, none have a double filter mechanism. The Espro Ultralight takes it a step further with 2 micro-filters for a pure yet grit-free cup of coffee. They say it takes up to 12 times the particulate out over the common french press. I can’t measure that minutely, but I will say that I have not had any leftover murky mud at the bottom of my cup. Hence, that got caught by the filters and is left at the bottom of the travel mug.

Minor blip. If the label somehow gets removed or wears off, the warranty is voided. With use, that label may go missing a lot sooner than the 1 year you have. Maybe an embossed warning is the way to go.
The ESPRO Ultralight In Action
I have some Euro roots, so I prefer a smaller cup when drinking my coffee. I don’t need the super size growler that some people use. Hence, I will probably use the Espro Ultralight mainly as a vehicle to make my coffee as well as the transporter. The design does beg the question: Can you drink the coffee directly from bottle as you would a standard coffee travel mug? I suppose you could, but it doesn’t seem like the best way to actually drink the coffee. One, it is super hot with all that insulation. And two, I think it takes away from the taste experience. Bring along a small mug, and the experience will be well worth it. In either case, I have enjoyed my coffee at the office these past few weeks.
The time came for a mountain expedition and we benefited greatly from the Espro Ultralight. A dispersed Campsite with mountain views, a camp fire, breakfast on the grill, and fresh coffee. Things just tastes better on a campfire!

With a clean and simple design, this traveling French Press is cool yet very functional. The double filter process is also very unique in that it creates for a smooth cup of coffee.
