The GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife
What’s New
I’ve had many products from Gerber over the years, and I can tell you that the only thing that is constant from the world of Gerber knives is change. Gerber loves to innovate and provide useful twists on knives and everyday tools that make them even more functional and easy to use. The Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife takes is a take on a traditional pocket knife, and updates it for today’s world. Since a pocket knife comes in handy for a million things, it’s best to keep it on your person at all times. Try it for a week, and I promise that you’ll never be without one again. Gerber realized, though, that the number one item in most people’s pockets is now the smartphone – and adapted the pocket knife to play nice with it. Thus, the main idea behind the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife – a rubberized coating over the pocket knife which provides a dual purpose. First and foremost, it protects your smart phone from any scratches or dings a regular pocket knife would cause. Second, it provides a no slip surface which is is extremely easy to grip and feels great on your hand.
The Rubber coating on the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife provides a no slip grip…
while the dual thumb studs provide easy open and access.
Testing the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife
I tested the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife by carrying it with me every day for two weeks of testing. I work outside, and found several ways to use the knife – the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife performed exactly the way I’ve come to expect from years of using Gerber Knives and products – it performed beautifully. To begin with, when closed it is slim, lightweight, and easy to slip into your front pocket. I thought the rubberized coating would catch uncomfortably in my pocket, but after a day or so I didn’t even notice it anymore. The dual thumb studs make it easy to open with two hands – most pocket knives are designed to function this way, so I didn’t mind that it wasn’t able to be opened with a single hand. The best part of the knife, in fact, is the opening and closing mechanism. When fully opened, the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife locks firmly in place. It’s hard to use a knife that doesn’t lock firmly in place for cutting anything rough, so this feature makes the Knife especially useful. Conversely, the closing mechanism keeps the knife securely in place when carried in your pocket.
The release for the lockback is rubberized as well on the GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife, and take a firm push to disengage.
Overall, the Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife makes a great gift for anyone who needs a handy knife around… at all times. Reasonably priced, this knife will quickly become that one that you always reach for. For more info on the GDC Tech Knife and other Gerber gear visit, www.gerbergear.com or www.amazon.com/gerber.
