Are you looking for that watch that can do everything and then some while you’re exploring the great outdoors? Timex has come out with a watch that is not just big in size, but big in value. At around $200, we feel this watch offers a lot of valuable info for the outdoors type. The watch comes with a compass, altimeter, barometer, stopwatch, countdown timer, and a function to review your progress. We tested the watch out in our backyard, the Rocky Mountains and I have to admit, it was pretty cool to have to use. When out in the mountains, I don’t always bring a compass with me, but the Timex WS4 can be helpful when getting lost. We found the compass to be pretty accurate and although we didn’t get lost with it, it was nice to know it was there. The altimeter is a nice function to have if you live anywhere but Iowa or Kansas, sorry ya’ll. I suggest calibrating the watch when you know specific altitudes so it stays accurate. You can also set alarms for when you reach a certain altitude to help gauge how much further you have to go. The watch will also tell you the total ascent and decent, and max and min, which is pretty cool to look at on and after your expedition. I like to use the stopwatch function when I go hiking, just so I know how long I have been out and how long it will take me to get back if doing an out and back. I also used it for running a few times and the watch worked just like my Timex Ironman. Timex doesn’t pay us to say this, but we are a big fan of their watches. We have always found them to be reliable and very user friendly. This watch has followed in its predecessors hiking shoes in that it’s user friendly and reliable. From a style perspective, this watch is pretty big, so you must like the big face watches. It comes in some pretty cool colors as well, which we always love to see.
